Romeo & Juliet

'Two households, both alike in dignity,

In fair Verona, where we lay our scene,

From ancient grudge break to new mutiny,

Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean.'

The bitter rivalry between Capulet and Montague brought to the stage through movement. A physical and contemporary retelling of the classic, tragic love-story.

Please see attached the audition pieces for the spring show, Romeo and Juliet. You may notice that there is more than one speech for some characters, please choose your preferred piece - you will not be expected to present both. We ask that you only prepare one audition piece but there will be an option to express interest in more than one part.

Read-through - Tuesday 28th Jan, 7.45pm for 8pm at Didsbury Cricket Club

We'll introduce our vision for the play and how the auditions and rehearsals will run, followed by a read-through of some of the play so you can get an idea of the abridged version of script we'll be using and reduced character list.

Audition 1 - Sunday 2 Feb, 2.45pm at East Didsbury Methodist Church

Audition 2 - Tuesday 4 Feb, 7.45pm at Didsbury Cricket Club

We'll start with a quick intro to the physical theatre style we will be using (no previous experience or skill needed) and move straight into a group workshop for about 45 mins after which we will call individual auditions.

Due to the group audition element, please arrive on time for the start of the session. Make sure you're wearing comfortable clothes and trainers.

Performance dates - Friday 5th/Saturday 6th June at East Didsbury Methodist Church
