Hedda Gabler, has just returned to her villa in Kristiania from her honeymoon. Her husband is Jørgen Tesman, an academic who has combined research with their honeymoon. It becomes clear in the course of the play that she has never loved him and married out of boredom for the life she is forced to lead.

Performed on 23rd & 24th September 2016 at the East Didsbury Methodist Church

Henrik Ibsen's Hedda Gabler is the great social drama of a caged woman in the late nineteenth century. It explores her tormented desire for escape and her yearning for individual and spiritual freedom. It is recognised as a classic of realism and the title character of Hedda is considered one of the great dramatic roles in theatre.
